Mr. Dan Hamilton and his 8th grade technology classes participated in creating tobacco-free promotional style type of projects. Attached are the winners (top 3) of each project. The brochures were printed in color and are in the office/counseling office for student/family use. The posters were printed in color and are up around the school. The powerpoints have been displayed during all lunches on the TV in the cafeteria. The top 3 students in each category all received Target gift cards for their participation from the Tobacco Free Schools Grant through Tri-County Health Department.
The wellness event was held at PVMS and it was fabulous! We had many booths set up that were all geared towards helping students and families obtain wellness, and healthy lifestyles. Specifically, this year, we were able to set up a “Tobacco Free World” booth, with help from Tri-County Health Department and the American Lung Association. We were able to connect with families at a personal level by hearing their stories and were able to help encourage current smokers to quit and also congratulate and recognize those who have already quit. We had an awesome crowd all day from all age ranges, checking out the healthy and tar -filled lung display. Thanks to all the families who joined us this year.
