Elementary No. 12 boundary open houses planned


Construction is scheduled to begin this summer on the district's 12th elementary school in the Reunion community of Commerce City.

Parents in the southern portion of the district curious if their children may attend this school are encouraged to attend attendance boundary open houses planned for the month of March. 

The open houses, hosted by the district's Facility Planning Advisory Committee, will provide parents and community members the opportunity to review proposed boundary options, ask questions and provide feedback.

Open houses are scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the following dates:

Book, eReader donations support district students

Design work moves forward on third district high school

It's raining books at Turnberry

Lisa Hidalgo was the special guest at Turnberry Elementary Feb. 23 after the school won the station's Readers Are Leaders award for the month of February. Hildago read to first-grade students and then passed out books to each first grader.

The Farm Comes to Prairie View High School


There were more than 20 animals including llamas, an alpaca, a donkey, goats, sheep, a cow, two horses - even rabbits and chickens - in pens on the Prairie View High School campus for the Future Farmers of America Petting Zoo Feb. 22. The event kicked off FFA Week and the club celebrated all week with activities including a breakfast for teachers and decorating the school with signs sharing agricultural facts. Reading with the Mayor


City of Brighton Mayor Dick McLean stopped by Pennock Elementary Feb. 26 to read to third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students. The mayor's annual visit to Pennock kicked off the district's Read Across America celebration, which is officially planned for March 2. Reading events are planned across the district and, in honor of the day which celebrates the birthday of famed children's author Dr. Seuss, the district's Nutrition Services Department will also serve green eggs and ham.
