Attendance boundary set for new district elementary school

New attendance boundaries have been established to make way for Elementary School No. 12, scheduled to open in Fall 2017.

The new school will be located in the Reunion community of Commerce City and primarily serve Reunion families.

The School District 27J Facility Planning Advisory Committee recommended a boundary option after several months of study and thanks to the public input of community members who attended a series of community open houses in March.

Around School District 27J

As part of West Ridge Elementary's Family Game and Food Festival, fifth graders Iris Atkinson, Grace Brown and Emily Aten put on a bake sale and sold bottled water  to raise money to bring clean water to a village in Africa.  The students called their effort “Water for Water” to bring clean water to South Sudan.

A Bur tree was planted April 26 at Southeast Elementary because fifth grade student Jaden Olson won this year's City of Brighton Arbor Day tree poster contest. Olson, whose poster features four trees that have branches shaped into hearts, had her poster on display at the Colorado State Capitol last week with all the winners from around the state.
