  • Mill Levy Committee starts discussion about funding at first meeting

    School District 27J started a conversation with parents, students, teachers and community members on whether to put a Mill Levy question on the November ballot. The district has formed a 25-member Mill Levy Committee to study how the district best meets the needs of students and staff in light of continued cuts in state education funding. The committee met for the first time on Feb. 9. The next Mill Levy Committee meeting is on March 9. Click here to read an overview of the information presented to the Mill Levy Committee.

  • High & middle school attendance area meeting for community on March 1
    Parents and community members can give input about attendance areas for High School No. 3 and Middle School No. 5 at an upcoming open house. Hosted by the 27J Facility Planning Advisory Committee, the open house will provide the chance to review three different attendance area options. The o

  • Youth Job Fair & Career Expo Feb. 25 at Armory
    A Brighton Youth Job Fair & Career Expo will be on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Armory, located at 300 Strong St. in Brighton. The job fair is for all Brighton youth ages 16 and older. Learn about a variety of careers, jobs and internships. Students are encouraged to dress in "Business Casual" for this event. This Career Expo is sponsored by the Brighton Optimist Club. Click here for more information.

  • 8th Grade Check It Out Night at Prairie View High Feb. 28

    Prairie View High School will hold a Check It Out Night for eighth grade students and their parents on Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Prairie View High School, 12909 E. 120th Ave. in Henderson. All eighth grade students and their parents are encouraged to attend. Two information sessions at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. At the event, students can get their questions answered about freshmen year at PVHS. Learn what Prairie View High has to offer from electives to core classes and extracurricular activities.   • Applications accepted for ECARE free full-day kindergarten spots

    School District 27J has been awarded funding from the Colorado Department of Education to implement ECARE (Early Childhood At-Risk Enhancement) Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year. This is an extension of the Colorado Preschool Program and will service students who are considered to have risk factors linked to potential academic failure.   • hs3 Naming nominations being accepted for new middle school and high school
    School District 27J is currently accepting naming nominations for its two newest schools, Middle School No. 5 and comprehensive High School No. 3. The High School No. 3 campus is currently under construction and scheduled to open in August 2018 in Thornton. When it opens, it will be home to ninth- and 10th-grade students as well as sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students until a permanent Middle School No. 5 campus opens nearby in 2020.   • Upcoming Kindergarten Round-Up Dates at 27J Elementary Schools
    Parents are encouraged to attend upcoming informational Kindergarten Round-Up events at the elementary school where their child will attend kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year. Here are some of the upcoming dates: Turnberry Elementary School: Kindergarten Round-Up, Feb. 16, 5-6 p.m.; Second Creek Elementary School: Kindergarten Round-Up: Feb. 21, 3-6 p.m.; Northeast Elementary School: Kindergarten Round-Up, Feb. 23, 5:30 p.m. and an Open House on April 12 during the school day; Thimmig Elementary School: Kindergarten Round-Up, Feb. 22, 8:45-11 a.m.; March 22 (paperwork only); Pennock Elementary School: Kindergarten Round-Up, Feb. 22, 3-4 p.m.; April 19, 5-6 p.m; Henderson Elementary School: Kindergarten Round-Up, Feb. 27, 4:30-6:30 p.m. and March 16, 9-11 a.m and South Elementary School: Kindergarten Round-Up, April 13, 6-7 p.m.
