Important Dates:
March 2- Chocolate Fundraiser Kick-off (Money from this fundraiser will be used to pay for our 2017-18 STARS Mentorship Program and Chromebooks).

March 17- Positive Rewards Assembly

March 22- Great Replay Fundraiser Play Day (students who raise $10 for the American Heart Association will participate in throwback games during their electives)

March 24- March 31- Spring Break

The 8th grade students will take a field trip to Elitches the last week of school. This field trip is only for 8th grade. Due to Elitch Gardens being located in downtown Denver, we have to be sure that students we take outside of our building to represent PVMS are demonstrating our behavior expectations while in school. If your student receives a referral from March 8, until the end of year, they will not be able to attend the field trip.

It’s important that all students give these assessments their best effort! Here are a few talking points that you can discuss with your child before testing:

·  Get a good night’s sleep before testing and eat a healthy breakfast the morning of testing. A well-rested and full body makes for a stimulated brain!

·  Be present and on time! Many of our testing sessions take place in the morning.

·  Do your best. Positive encouragement can go a long way!

Cell Phone Policy: Students will be required to either leave their cell phones – turned off – in their lockers during testing, or given to teachers for safe-keeping, also turned off. If you or your child do not feel these options will keep their phone safe, we encourage you to keep the phone at home on the days they are testing!

More information on PARCC/CMAS can be found at: https://www.cde.state.co.us/assessment.

Please contact Nicki Chappell at nchappell@sd27j.net or 720-685-5465 with any additional questions!
