New principal named for Henderson Elementary

School administrative veteran Natalie Rooney has been hired as the new principal of Henderson Elementary. rooney

Rooney will begin her new role with the district on Jan. 9, 2017. She succeeds David Felten, who is leaving Henderson to lead the district’s newest school, Reunion Elementary, scheduled to open next year.

“We’re excited to welcome Natalie to our district and have her experience and leadership at Henderson Elementary,” said 27J Superintendent of Schools Dr. Chris Fiedler.

Rooney has served as interim principal of Tollgate Expeditionary Learning School in Aurora Public Schools since moving to Colorado this past summer. Prior to her move, she was principal of Marion Elementary School in Marion, Ark., for three years. She was also an assistant principal at Marion Junior High School for four years.

Rooney earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y., and her master’s degree in elementary and special education from Nazareth College, also in Rochester. She received a certificate of Advanced Study in Administration Leadership from the State University of New York – Oswego.
